So, so good. Best of Dickens, best of Kingsolver. Combined.

“Awakening in the middle of a prodigiously tough snore, …Scrooge …”. What a chapter opening! The very idea that some snores are tougher than others is a wonderful and true observation.

Dickens is so delicate and kind with his observations. Can’t help thinking of Shakespeare when reading him.

First time for me and it’s quite interesting how quickly Scrooge begins to take to his own heart what Marley confesses about how he, Marley, lived his life ‘wrong’.

Best non self help self help book I've read in a longtime. Spot on in my view.

Pretty fascinating though author's attempts at humour are bit cheesy (unkind of me to say).

Finding it hard going sometimes then incredibly wonderful at others, so I persevere. Starting another reading session now, determinedly

Privilege to read. How the IRS compliance departments were organised in early 1980s. This just should not be compelling material. But it is....

Am in love with this book, so much so that my next one will almost certainly be Infinte Jest, also by DFW.

So, so good. It soothes my heart to read. And makes me happier about being human. It's beautiful.

So far, very similar to the film. Normally the book would be better so that's a compliment to Scorsese.

Intriguing to see the birth of a witch. Starts with a love of herbs and wayside flowers.

Middle class woman becomes a witch. Think I'm going to enjoy this one.
