Oh good, a reminder that this conflict is substantially owed to the simplest and least satisfying sort of misunderstanding-because-they-have-to-and-won't-talk-about-it.

If you wanted to use the Egyptian mythological underworld, why not just use it? Why use it, change nothing, and then say "oh no it's not the Egyptian underworld, but it's similar" when it's identical?
