Coming up to the home stretch of this novel. The characters are back together, and the web has woven more characters who I’m sure will play an important role in the series. Still unsure how it will all play out in the long run but I’m excited to find out. A great great introduction to what I think will be a fantastic series.

What a segment! Between Perrin’s capture by the Whitecloaks, and Rand and Mat’s odyssey across Caemlyn road, RJ continues to flex his writing prowess, by projecting the emotions and mental state of our characters onto the reader. Some very clever non linear story telling.

Already some great twists in characterisation. Perrin in particular has quickly become a favourite, with his ability to communicate with wolves. The dread between the three parties is intensifying - will they ever find each other again?

The adventure has really taken a higher gear, but not failing to continue to develop the characters in satisfying, consistent ways. The party have split and now I am really enjoying the exploration of each of the characters individually as they make their way to Caemlyn.

Characters are growing, and mysteries are building. Why were Rand and the Two Rivers gang having similar dreams? What is their purpose in this world, and why is Moiraine taking them on this journey?
Simply loving this book so far. The prose is easy to follow yet filled with so much detail, and the story is grand. Can’t wait to read on.

The party has formed and the adventure has well and truly begun. Chapter 9, which details the legend of King Aemon and his Queen Eldrene, was a particular favourite of mine - the realisation that Aemon’s field had become bastardised into Emonds field was not only a fantastic world building detail, but I’m sure will become important later in this tale.
