"[Knight Genielle's] whole life, she had had to prove to her fellow knights that she was not only their equal but was in fact their superior. With time, her sole hobby was to torture aspiring men to remind them, and herself, of her supremacy." I think I've worked with her, LOL.

"Angela, feeling disappointed over the dissolution of her engagement..." Good to see a different view of arranged marriage.

Catherine LOL!

Katyana Wow, that is such the stereotypical image of the female boss: bitter from having to prove herself over and over, she becomes the PMS uber-bitch. Yeesh. Is that the heroine?

message 3: by Catherine (new)

Catherine It is very stereotypical, Katyana. It's sad that I've worked with quite a few females like that in the military. :( I can understand to a point, but, man!

Katyana Yeah. I am not saying that women like that don't exist - I have seen them too. The stereotype has to come from somewhere, I guess. But I hate seeing it perpetuated, because I am so tired of having to prove that I am not that person. There aren't a lot of women in the animation industry, and there are even fewer in the comic book industry, so it is like a constant uphill battle against crappy assumptions.

Catherine I am totally with you there. Do you know how many women I've worked with in the civilian world? One. There aren't that many women in my field either. I hate going to a new job because it always take them a while to adjust to a woman and they're always afraid I'll be a super bitch. I hate having to prove that I'm normal!

new_user LOL, Catherine, I completely understand. There were very few women in my programming classes, and guys -who don't know I'm a techy- are continually surprised that I can operate computers alone, LOL.

I don't really like to see that witchy stereotype perpetuated either. His depiction of women here is a little questionable, but I'll reserve judgment since I'm not very far. Genielle's not really the heroine though, thankfully, LOL.
