In a particular incident, the Baudelaires got in the van with the V.F.D,The Volunteering Fighting Disease. They had to choose between giving away their identity or making up false names. They chose making up false names because the Daily Punctilio, the newspaper said they were murderers and they were wanted.

The author uses characterization well to show what the three main characters are like. He shows that Violet likes to invent things by having her solve problems with inventions. He shows that Klaus likes reading to figure out how to do certain things. He shows that Sunny, the baby likes to chew on things by her being a baby. They all use their interests to help find the Quagmires their friends who Count Olaf has kidnap

The Baudelaire's lost their parents in a terrible fire. Their first guardian after their parents death was Count Olaf (the antagonist). After the Baudelaires get a new owner after Olaf,Count Olaf has been looking to capture them ever since. In every single book of the series, Count Olaf seems to know where the Baudelaires are. The antagonist,Count Olaf knows where the protagonist, Baudelaires are every single time.

The point of view is third person limited. You don't know everything about the characters. The reader knows much as the heroes, but not the villains. If the point of view for example was third person omniscient,we would know what Count Olaf's plan was. The current point of view in the story helps the reader be more interested in the book because you never know how crazy Olaf's plan will be.

So far in the book, the Baudelaires are falsely accused of murdering Jacques Snicket. They later get new owners (the V.F.D.) and they don't reveal their identity to them.

The word choice the author uses certainly has a negative tone. For example the author says "There is no earthly reason why you should read one more word about the misfortune, treachery, and woe that are in store for the Baudelaire children, any more than you should run into the street and throw yourself under the wheels of a bus. This is a hyperbole because obviously he doesn't mean you should throw yourself under a bus.

The book i'm reading is the 8th book in the Series of Unfortunate Events,The Hostile Hospital. The Baudelaires are still in for more trouble. In the previous book they were accused of murder which they did not commit. They get a new guardian in this book which is not surprising since they always have bad luck. The Baudelaires are in for more of the same.
