The passive voice is bugging the hell out of me now. "Ben had been cleaning the boat when Cassius arrived." Why not "Ben was cleaning the boat when Cassius arrived" instead? I don't get it.

Weird misuse of adjectives, even more passive voice ... and now the mixed ethnicity buddy is described as unattractive while the white dude is, of course, handsome. I don’t know whether I feel like finishing this book.
