Chisnall doesn't see the whole outcome of a nuclear warhead that is about to detonate. Chisnall wants a nuclear warhead to detonate just to save a couple of humans from dying, but his bomb squad wants to save the whole human race. Chisnall is only focusing on what's happening now, not the outcome of the bomb. "Do you have any humanity?" asked Chisnall. "Do you have what it takes to be a soldier?"(242)

i think that Chisnall and his crew are uneasy. They with a couple of minutes from life or death. Chisnall's bomb team are stuck have a couple of minutes to arm a nuclear warhead, but have to defend against a alien army as well. "'Fleming, Bennett, we're expecting company. How long do you need?' 'Could be half an hour.' 'What happened to ten mikes? I don't think we have thirty,' Chisnall said."(181)

I think that Chisnall feels that he was betrayed. The people he was working with for so long had turned to the other side and back stabbed him. he worked with his squad for so long, and now he has a person betraying him and trying to kill him and his squad. "Chisnall would have trusted any of the team with his life. he had trusted them all with his life. But one of them had betrayed that trust"(47,48).
