this book is about to make me throw up oh my god

she... she's about to eat her father's eye. good GOD

it's fun that by meeting each other (and then becoming enemies by nature of their opposing wants) that Emanuela and Verene become each other; Verene by ruining her reputation and committing an act of violence, and Emanuela by growing a hero complex and wanting to save her city by herself, her way, on her terms, even if it hurts other people.

(also, it's not like Emanuela is the only villain. both she and Verene are villainous, pushed to villainy by each other, their own ambitions, and varying circumstances)
