Batgrl (Book Data Kept Elsewhere) I should add here that knowing Dickens' actions toward his wife have not made me stop reading him. It does however mean I have a HUGE issue with his depiction of women in consideration of his real life treatment of his wife - and this is the kind of thing that you NEED to know in literary criticism.

Christine I vote for Right Bastard; it's more apt. I have author is a philander shelf.

Batgrl (Book Data Kept Elsewhere) It took a while for Right Bastard to take for some reason. Also I had a good snicker over your author-was-a-philanderer shelf - you do know that poor Peter Ackroyd is now on that list with his book on Dickens? I assume you'll marry him anyway. (Heh.)

I'm still working on my copy of London - and in fact will take it on a plane ride next month. But MUST check the damn thing in checked bags because HEAVY. (It's the last time I've ever bought a paper book without checking page amount/weight first.)
