There is not a lot of action in this book and, yet, I can hardly lay it down. The microcosm of the two lonly men mirrors the big world around them. Sergej is leaning to the Ukrainian side, Pashka to the separatists of "Donezk People's Republik".

Sergej and Pashka are the only remaining inhabitants in a deserted village between the lines. They stayed because they have nowhere to go and struggle to cope without electricity and lack of many basic things. Fortunately Sergej has the bees. Then, one day, they find a dead fighter that nobody claims, has a third party joined the war?

The recent flare-up of the war in and around Nagrono Karabakh reminded us, that there still are areas in Europe, where people shoot at each other. The very East of Ukraine is such a region too. That is where this story is set, in an almost deserted village in the no man's land between the Ukrainian and separatist armies.
