Re: new Goodread's policy, lol wow, great job Goodread's. Authors these days...If you can't take someone not liking your book, don't publish. Resorting to temper tantrums and bullying readers is nagl.

The publishing world isn't first grade. Not everyone gets a shiny trophy & rainbows just for trying, y'know? Just because someone doesn't like your book doesn't entitle you to stamp them a bully & post their contact information on websites. Despicable behavior.

I wish I could like your comment. The book publishing industry is a dog-eat-dog one. Some writers need to toughen their skin, or don't publish. You are not entitled to have people love or write positive glowing reviews.
Methinks you've hit it right there: they think they're entitled. But apparently nobody ever thought to inform them that they're NOT. Most writers are by nature sensitive folks -- otherwise they wouldn't be drawn to writing in the first place. I GET IT. But these people need to grow a thicker skin, or else avoid reading bad reviews. Either option works -- just pick one & quit being an asshat.

Yup. Negative critical feedback has helped me grow as a writer. I tell some people that for every person who hated your writing, there's another person who loved it. Tastes in books vary so much. Either grow from the feedback or just don't it personally. That is how I toughened my skin up.
Exactly. If you're the type of writer who thrives on negative feedback, go for it. If you're the type who prefers to ignore negatives & write solely for yourself and/or your fans, go for it. I've got no qualms with either style. What I *loathe* are the ones who think they're entitled to be above negatives just because they're fabulous & everyone who doesn't agree with that self-assessment is a bully. Puh-lease. Grow up, guys.

Uh-huh. Particularly where college kids are concerned. I've lived in this place my entire life -- I'm just sick of dealing with their shit, y'know? :P
