Reading Mutual Aid Amongst Ourselves now. I wonder how much this section holds up today in the west. I know a lot of people don't even know their neighbours. Are we still helping each other now like they did back then?

Have learned a lot. Humans aren't individual selfish animals. Throughout our entire history and even today we always go back to our social nature. We're wired to help each other. Very interesting hearing about the first labour unions too. They were treated even worse back then than now.

Rereading this as well so went back to the chapter talking about mutual aid among indigenous people. It's incredibly insightful. The misconceptions Europeans had about the indigenous is immense. They worked together and protected their tribe and even other tribes as well. Certainly not the "savages", Europeans thought they were.
