I wish John Stephens had used terms other than "New Age Boy, Old Age Boy and Mommy's Boy." Subjective agency is interesting but his writing style is far too convoluted as though he is always conscious that he is an academic and must at all times sound like one.

Nodelman's chapter was very interesting. He has this very appealing writing style that makes reading his work a pleasure. The next one dealt mainly with visual representations of masculinity and maleness in picturebooks which was interesting but rather dry.
