I read one book that had a LOT of Spanish and I was blank. Not just words, but entire conversations 😂The footnotes, which should be at the bottom, were all on the last page so turning pages was frustrating.

That sounds frustrating! And I think that footnotes should always be added for the non native speakers at the bottom. It's just immensely helpful.

Thank you guys so much for offering help! It means a lot. You're too sweet 😭. Im going to make a small list of the words I couldnt translate, whenever I have time for it (might be a while because I have class) and get back to you all later. Thanks again and you guys are awesome!

Hai ram = Ram is a Hindu God so it's like saying Jesus... Express surprise or fear or frustration?
Idhar aayiye = come here
Bhaiyya = brother
Kya hua = what happened
Mujhse bad el vada karo = I think there's a typo there or maybe the whole statement would make better sense. But the general idea is make me a promise😊

Ikr. It was shockingly similar translations. But correct me if I'm wrong (I learned this in school and I may be remembering it wrong) Hindi is the common languages spoken in India, while Urdu is spoken commonly in Pakistan, and those two countries used to be one. I'm guessing that is the reason to the similarities.

BUT I will try and tell you more about Hindi and Urdu
Hindi is India's national language BUT it is NOT the mother tongue of many Indians
My mother tongue is Marathi BUT I do know Hindi as well as Urdu
It depends on which part of India you are from
I mostly speak Marathi BUT I am fluent in Hindi too (We have Hindi in our school syllabus )
As Mjspice said...everything changed after partition BUT Urdu and Hindi are still widely spoken here in India
In fact, most people(Including me) speak a mix between Hindi and Urdu (Do I make any sense??!)
What I mean is...while speaking some words we use are Hindi words while some are Urdu
I hope I did not confuse you more🙈

Thank you for the additional information! :) It wasn't confusing at all. I always love knowing more about culture and everything that surrounds it, so it's very interesting learning more about his topic! ( And also does that mean you know 4 languages: hindi, Urdu, Marathi, and English. If so I love that for you, my measly brain could never 😂)

I think many Indians know more than one language xD
You just start learning the languages after hearing them for some time🤣

The reason why the translator won't work is that Hindi is written in devnagri script
And the words in the books are written in English alphabets !!

That's awesome. Maybe it's because I live in a country where an overwhelming amount of people only know 1 language (not great btw), but I think being able to acaully learn other languages, and multiple that is, and being fluent or strong in all is pretty admirable.

I do wish there were footnotes added. Sometimes they repeat the phrase in English, so you can use use your context clues, but it would still be helpful to add them. But oh well 😁🤷‍♀️

Yeah, I tried a few translating websites, but it wasn't the easiest bcuz unless the word used is a cultural thing (like article of clothings) , like you said, it isn't really going to translate unless it's in the actual Hindi using the letter and writing. Totally grateful that I was able to get help with some words!😊
