aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......this author is Australian, writing about Americans. But every other line they say something distinctly Aussie, like: "Norsca-fresh!" What the hell is that? I had to look it up, it's apparently an Aussie deodarant product. "Were you a girl guide?" OF COURSE NOT! Because Americans are Girl SCOUTS! Get it straight.

"He looked as though he wanted to argue the toss a little more." Huh? Once again, Americans don't say things like that. "It was a one-off." ?? You mean, "a one time thing?"

another thing...Americans don't end sentences with "yeah?" As in: "We should eat first, yeah?" Americans don't say "bits." As in: "all he could think about was rubbing their naughty bits together" or " 'But you left out the good bit of the story!' " No. We say "parts." Also, we would never FLOG anything on ebay, we sell stuff. Whew. Okay, rant complete.

Catherine Lol! That is so bad, but so hilarious. I can just picture you reading it and going WTF??? I once read a book where a character used Cockney Rhyming Slang. I didn't understand a damn word she said. I had to google it to figure out what the hell was going on. How does anyone have a conversation like that?

ETA: My point about the slang was that I understand how bad it sucks to not know what characters are talking about.
