Do you generally like Lauren Winner?

This is only the second book that I've read of hers (the first being Mudhouse Sabbath (very easy read)). I respect her and she's got good credentials (teachers at Duke). So far this book is good, though she seems to use many words to say what could be said in less.
Have you read her? Thoughts?
