I am struggling with this one. Mostly to do with the syntax. The dialog is written so that the speech reads like Jamaican. And while I applaud the author for this, it is something I struggle with when reading (regardless of book or genre). It's far too distracting for me.
Storywise I am enjoying it so far. You really can feel the longing of wanting to go to America, and what that opportunity may offer.

Patsy, the main character of this book is infuriating. I personally find her character apprehensive but it makes the story all the more believable. The writing is top-notch. One of the best written books I have read this year.
