Notes:
(1) They changed up the art team for this volume, which I'm not a fan of once a title's established a signature look. But, at least the covers are consistent.
(2) Flipping through, I can see this is mostly made of short stories by a total of 25 guest writers and artists. To me that just screams a lack of direction. Alternatively, it's a holding pattern until Rebirth.

Notes:
(1) The degree of hipster required to appreciate this level of indie only increases.
(2) Of the many short stories I've read so far, I've finally come across a good one!
(3) My problem with this collection is many of the contributors have obviously never read this comic. It's mostly generic stories with the characters plugged in. Very little's specific to the series.

Notes:
(1) Yep... I'm definitely not hipster enough for this level of indie.
(2) So, the mysteries in this mystery series have become a kind of scavenger hunt for anecdotes about various characters.
- Sounds like tabloid journalism to me.
(3) Most of these stories don't have a point. They just seem like excuses to draw characters in funny situations, in specific art styles.

Notes:
(1) The main interior art style's shifted from Disney to Nickelodeon.
(2) The conceit of this volume is that the kids are putting together the school yearbook, and the many short stories are their reminiscences. Except that the content's new, this totally sounds like a sitcom clip show.
(3) It's about to get all indie up in here. I may not be hipster enough for this.

Short stories could be good to get to know new characters but if they're all from different writers, it could skewer the character's personalities.

Especially this early into a new series, I don't know if any of the characters except for one or two has a definite and consistent personality. I mean, they just did the 80th anniversary Robin issue, which works as an anthology because everyone has a sense of that character is some shape or form over the course of 80 years. For this series, we're still in character defining mode. Frankly, the lead character and her love interest have zero personality at all.

Exactly, building up a lore like Robin takes time and effort. You can't expect that straightaway especially when you're focusing on more than one character at a time.
Maybe they felt that short stories would lend itself better to blander characters?

Perhaps so. It might also be that they wanted short stories to have a lot of content to see what works and what doesn't. Sort of like giving things a short test run before getting behind an idea. Like you said, it's an ensemble cast so getting a feel of all the characters takes time. This might have been a shortcut. 🤷♂️

I know the gimmick is that they're putting together the school yearbook and the short stories are memories that they're reminiscing about. Hopefully they'll be good for some character insight.
