(1) Well, I'm nearly finished with this. Now I've got to hunker down and write my review. I simultaneously hate writing reviews but love finishing reviews. It's like exercise, and Harry Potter reviews are especially stressful and demanding on account of the extra attention.

(1) Hermione loves elves but hates giants... a bit hypocritical if you ask me. Also ironic since nearly every elf hates her, but Grawp adores her.
(2) 'Harry raised his wand, looked directly at Umbridge, and imagined her being sacked.

Thanks, Mrinmayi! I'm happy you like it. It's most usually American schoolkids who don't understand that different countries assign different percentages to letter grades. I live in Canada, so I use Canadian grading. I get TONS of comments all the time about how the grading I use is wrong and needs to be American. I try to have fun with my replies, though :)
@Jayson Yeah l did read some comments where they were confused with your grading 😂
Different countries have different gradings
Like here in India we have A1 ,A2 ,B1 ,B2 and so on
But that doesn't mean Canada's system is wrong
It's just about the comparison
Also it's great to see various grading systems
That's where the percentage is useful
It's great you can grade books this way
If l tried rating books this way ....my indecisive self will probably just get stuck on rating one book😆

Yeah, I'm always interested in seeing how different countries do academic grading. For me, the biggest value in including percentages is being able to say Book A is better, worse, or equal to Book B. People will often ask me which of two books I like better. In those situations, all I'd have to do is point to the percentages. Like you said, "It's just about the comparison." Also, having a scale that's more precise than just 5-stars is very useful :)
Lol that Troll grade 😂I don't get why people make a big deal about the grades/percentages. I spent time in both the Canadian and American school system and it wasn't too hard to become adjusted to the new grading system. Both systems have it's pros/cons.

Hm, when I was in school, grading went:100-90% = A
89-80% = B
79-70% = C
69-60% = D
59-0% = F
Not sure if other parts of the US do things differently. Looks like Canada is much more generous with their percentage spread.
Edit: Actually, I think the D range was wider, but 50% was definitely failing. I always thought we needed an E grade, but in elementary school, E is used for Excellent, so I guess they didn't want to use it to mean something else later.
Janhavi wrote: "Troll has got to be the funniest grade I have heard 😂"Kind of xenophobic of them, innit? I smell a new campaign for Hermoine. 😂 😂
LOL I always found that even the passing grades are a bit condenscending. You either get an Outstanding which is all great and that but then there's the "Exceeds expectations" like, "wow you actually did good, didn't see that coming for you" or "Acceptable" like "Uhm, it's not good-good but I guess it's good enough for a pass". Troll gotta be my favourite grade though.

Yeah, well I suppose some people just aren't aware that there are differences. Kids, especially like to point out things they see as mistakes. I get a good deal of comments pointing out how my opinion about certain books are mistakes too 😂.
You're right, it's not too hard to convert the percentages. Americans pass at 60% and Canadians pass at 50%, so all you have to do (roughly speaking), is subtract 10 to make things Canadian :)

I know that American grading isn't uniform across the board, but what you've listed is the most common, and the standard, generally speaking.
I don't know if Canada is necessarily more generous in percentages. It's still a ten percent spread between letter grades (above 90% is an A+), and apart from the conversion being 10-points apart, it's pretty much the same. 20-points above a pass, for example, is a B in both cases.
The lack of an E grade has always triggered my OCD 😕

I don't know about that. Hermione seems to have her hands full with SPEW. Plus, she seems to only wants to help the cute magical creatures. Blast-ended skrewts and trolls need fend for themselves 😁
Maja Ingrid wrote: "LOL I always found that even the passing grades are a bit condenscending. Possibly what those words meant hundreds of years ago aren't what they mean today? Or perhaps wizards are just a condescending bunch 😁
O, E and A do roughly equate with A, B and C.. Troll, though, seems like unnecessary salt in the wounds, but it's a fun kind of salt in the wounds :)
Tessa HC (onceuponabookworm) wrote: "I wish we had a troll grade in real life. That would be hilarious to get. Not that I’d ever get it"Troll, as a looming threat in real life, would certainly be a motivator to study harder :)
