Promise of Blood started so strongly from the first few sentences, pulled you into an original world so quickly, and then never let down until pretty much the end that I had very high expectations for this trilogy set in the same world. I'm struggling more here. It's slower and more stereotyped as fantasy stories go. It's also possible I'm just not in the mood for war stories right now. Not giving up on it though!
