'Merica!

16 ratings now. Still 1 review, but soon to be 2, if I can cobble one together. The only other review of this reads, in full, "The first chapter was very difficult. Once we got to the history, it was very captivating. I love the realistic descriptions of how life was in the 1700s and on." I hope I can do a little better.

A solemn poem about the Second World War, read over the radio--and followed immediately by an advertisement for hair conditioner. 'Merica! Get Dabbum now!

Starting the Epilogue. It's 77 pages long, though, so I'll probably finish tomorrow.

Then I'll spend the next week or two reading short books, because I've earned it.

In the books of Herodotus, Tacitus, Rabelais, Thomas Browne, John Milton, and scores of others, he had found men of face and voice more real to him than many a man he had met for a smoke and a talk.

I guess nobody read Rabelais during the Civil War.

End of Book Three. Long Epilogue ahead, but I want to reread the Prologue first. Later, though. I think 100+ pages are enough for one day.

So, who's going to read this next?

Getting worried. Rabelais was mentioned in the prologue and the first two books, but we're about 2/3 of the way through the third book and there's been no sign of him. And now the Civil War is about to start, and who will have time to read then?
