Some of the stories (like the one about the Parrot Pacino, are funny but seem a little unecessery for the rest of the story. They distract rather than enhance. I loved the Dad's big reveal about his brother, it really hit home.

Simple language but a great story, I'm not sure where I'm going but so far I'm happy to be led there. Story of escape on the boat was very well realised.
