Reading X’s autobiography has given me a deeper understanding of his struggle and an understanding of my own. I can feel his pain and I tend to find humour in his side comments. You really have to be able to read between the lines and imagine that you are him, in the same period; a black man with trauma and passion for his people. If you can’t do that, you won’t get his story. Grateful to be reading his words.
