“Gone, gone: the leopard - print bracelet of black and yellow diamonds...” (Hanff Korelitz 233) - Graces husband abandoned her and took all of her things. She knows he had been missing for 4 days. The fact that it took her four days to find out that he took all of his clothes from the closet they share and took all of graces jewelry proves how distracted and frazzled she’s been in the past days.

Grace is a giant hypocrite in a technical sense. She wrote a book about chastising women for spending their lives with deceitful men and then she realized her husband isn’t a doctor, he’s violent, and has many sexual assault charges toward former patients. This irony is a little bit on the nose for me but it is cool to see Grace’s life play out as if she were the character in her book.

“Stu was a smart, compassionate man...” (Hanff Korelitz 182) - Grace is in a spiral due to the fact that her husband is completely MIA. She sees an old friend, Stu in the street during her crazed walk at night. She calms down and I think this is because the author included Stu as a down to earth object that can ground the reader during a tense and almost unbelievable time.

Grace’s husband went on a business trip two days ago, and was scheduled to be back yesterday. Grace wasn’t freaking out because she thought his flight was delayed. But then she found his suitcase and phone at home; he never had a business trip. I think that Grace will be betrayed by him in some way that guilts her due to the fact that her newly published book chastises women for trusting men too much.
