A minor character in the book The Hate You Give would be Kenya. She is close with Starr and is loving to her. Kenya keeps Starr close to the community and takes her to parties at big D’s house. Kenya is a good influence on Starr and is a dear friend. Starr also feels embarrassed by Garden Heights.

In The Hate You give, there are some archetypal symbols in the book. One of them would be Chris’s Rolls Royce because it symbolizes his privilege racially and financially. In the book, Starr feels that’s their differences will come between them so she hides things about her that may make her seem “ghetto”.

In the book The Hate U Give the author gives off a very modest and honest tone when Starr is at the party in the beginning of the book. I think the author does care about the character and feels that that Starr should be true to herself.
