The Shadow Games by Alison Ingleby - Finally a book well worth the price of admission. Get over the YA tropes and it's an amazingly well-written bit of YA dystopia plus super-powers (and er mini dragons?) Absolute 5 star love

Daughter of Dragons by A.J Flowers - DNF. A bad start which throws you into the middle of a scene and never really recovers. Very breathless teenage stuff. It's in too much of a rush to establish anything much and so lost my attention.

Shadows & Light by Krista Street - Another DNF. This is a panting paranormal romance, not a dystopian fantasy.

Getting very disheartened tbh.

Behind Glass by Elle Scott - maybe another DNF. Everything's so rushed, and the character who's meant to be 18 sounds like an irritatingly hyper 10 year old.

Getting really disheartened - all the stories so far feel like betas rather than finals.

2 read, 2 DNF. Going to have to skip Crimson Mage @ 40% because it feels undercooked. Too much exposition randomly scattered in the MC's musings (that oh by the way did you know..? sort of thing) rather than setting up the world and then telling a story in it. The prologue and blurb didn't help a great deal.
