"And (always accompanied by) the feeling that Germany doesn't really exist, because you don't pass villages or cities on the Autobahn" I can totally relate to this sentiment, and also the feeling of being kind of odd and out of place in Germany as all history is so regional that in a way you are excluded from it.. I love the discussions on art. This book so far is a pleasant surprise.

This book was an interesting journey through space and time - Nootenboom's reflections on life and travel were interesting to read. I don't think it will stay with me for very long (excepting some bits) but it was good to read something in Dutch again. I feel excited to travel now!
