“I can’t stand the muzak.” (Thayer 216). This has nothing to do with the plot of this story, but the word Muzak is said so much in this story and I have no idea what it means. It is always placed where the word ‘music’ could be. Based on context I think it is some genre of music.

This book is written in two perspectives. This author utilizes it in a good way. She only switch between two perspectives to keep it rather simple and when she switches perspectives, she starts the new perspective right before the last one ended. This provides clarity and also a new perspective on previous events.

After reading almost this whole book, I just realized the main part takes place over only a few hours. The author does a good job of describing each scene with such detail but not bogging them down too much, that you forget how little “progress” the characters have made in their endeavors.

‘“It’s Sylvie, isn’t it?” Jonah grabs the receiver fork me. “Hello, my darling.”’ (Thayer 115). The invaders of Jessie and Carl’s home is their schizophrenic daughter’s boyfriend. He kept taking white pills to calm himself down. I think he is ill in someway and he met Sylvie in a mental hospital. If he has schizophrenic then he can’t control his actions, which is not good considering he has a gun.
