Shall I return to my embroidery? Lizzie mocked. Shall I break your pox-ridden nose with my forehead? Shall I grab you tiny balls and squeezed until your face turns black?
LOL! Love Lizzie. She's delightfully bloodthirsty.

Maybe it's the victim of the chaos before art studio tour, but this book's fractured narrative and unreliable narrators are just not doing it for me.

I don't know what that--fire in the seedy district--was all about or what it had to do with her father. I haz confuzzlement.

I'm finding Lizzie's dialect really hard to follow this time around. Weird, because with the first book, I enjoyed the juxtaposition between Eliza and Lizzie's voices. Now, I'm just glad to be done with each round of Lizzie's POV.

Gory murders! And yet, I'm still not into this. Maybe because I read it just before going to bed and I'm already sleepy?

I seem to be in both a book and movie slump. The culmination of the movie slump was The Quiet Place, easily the STUPIDEST and most over-rated and rage-making movie I've seen in ages. As for books, even sequels to good books are boring me. So far this just doesn't have the "oomph" of its predecessor.
