I just grabbed this book off the shelf at the library because it had an interesting title, cover, and book description. One of my favorite things about it so far is the narrator who is the main character. I like how she is talking to the reader in a young, relatable sort of way. I also really like how she told part of the story through a letter-type journal entry to a person named Isabel.

...I love how she discovered her maternal instinct when she met Walt, another amazing character. Walt has down-syndrome and is very good at solving a rubix cube. He is smart and is willing to help Mim with whatever she needs. Not many people write from the perspectives of these types of characters which is why I love this book so much.

One of my favorite things about books are the characters within them. There are a few characters in Mosquitoland that I love for their uniqueness. The main character, Mary Iris Malone or Mim, knows who she is which is a very admirable quality. She is strong and strong-minded. She is determined to go live with her mom and be there for her. She is also very witty and is an amazing writer...

I love the girl's personality and how she isn't afraid to speak her mind. I also love Arlene. She is an old woman who breaks many stereotypes for Mim (the main character). Mim feels like she can open up to Arlene. I hate the Poncho Man. He is extremely creepy and should not be allowed to harass Mim like he continues to do. I would not have let him sit by me, especially since he took Arlene's seat on the bus.

...I love how she describes herself as the heroine and I can't wait to see where this story goes. It started out really fast, but that didn't really bother me.
