Several things:
(1) Was going to go back to reading DC, but it's been very pleasant reading indies, so I've decided to continue.
(2) I'm exhausted from action, time for some period noir.
(3) I'm a big fan of "Velvet," so I'm eager to see what my next Brubaker experience has in store.
(4) Breitweiser may be the best colorist in the industry today.

Among the real-life celebrities fictionalized in this book include: Clark Gable, Dashiell Hammett, Ronald Reagan, John Huston, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Becall and Desi Arnaz. Previously, Richard Nixon was a character in Ed Brubaker's Velvet. I'm no expert on libel laws, but I guess it doesn't apply to historical figures and household names.

There's a character list at the front of the book, like what you'd find in Shakespeare plays. Because the story's Hollywood-themed, it has headshots in addition to names and a brief character blurb. I really appreciate this and often reference it as I'm reading, not dissimilar to when I read George R.R. Martin books and reference genealogies.

Two things:
(1) This is turning out to be much more of an ensemble piece than I expected. There's a definite main character, but in some issues he's not more than wallpaper.
(2) After the first bit you sort of expect this to be a murder-mystery, but that's not really been touched on since. It seems merely a component piece of a broader story.
