Richard and Kahlan went to zedds because richard had been bitten by a snake vine, the one he found by a try by the boundary. Zedd is outside naked on his “cloud rock” an wen he see’s Kahlan he freaks out because he knows she is the confessor, an he doesn’t realize Richard knows already, meanwhile Richard is becoming increasingly ill from the snake vine, but As they explain what happened, he feels empathy for them, Richard goes unconscious from the snake vine thorn and when he comes to it is dark and Kahlan is wiping his head an at first he thinks it is his mother from the fever driven thoughts, when he comes to he asks Kahlan to please not hurt zed and to “promise”. But she won’t because she has a lot of people counting on her to save them, while that is taking place zedd is out trying to find the root or plant for the vine that’ll create an antidote. Richard falls back unconscious, zedd comes back with the ingredients. They give it to Richard an then zedd and Kahlan start talking next to Richard, about why she alone without a wizard, she explains they all sacrificed themselves to create a portal through the boundaries, because Rahl is through into the midlands because of the boundary separating d’hara and the midlands failing. Soon it won’t be long till the westlands boundary fails as well, so she explains they are on the hunt for the wizard so he can appoint a new “seeker” though zedd revels a seeker must appoint himself an the wizard just makes it official. Richard is taken aback when a line Kahlan says triggers his memory, “the three boxes of orden are in play” which is a line in the “counter shadows” book that he had to memorize when he was a kid, because the book was powerful an if it fell into the wrong hands, everyone would be doomed. So he memorized the book until he could write it word for word without error. Then he and his father burnt the book. The caught up place from 94 is right after zedd gets back an they give Richard the antidote, then Kahlan tells zedd about the wizards and the seeker.
