Kahlan and zedd talk for a moment about what her task is, Richard finally starts to wake up, he feels better. Zedd then goes to his wizard cabinet an gets a sword called “the sword of truth”. With it he asks Richard to grab it, which Kahlan doesn’t want hon to because she doesn’t want him to become seeker, because it is a dangerous job and she doesn’t want him to get hurt. As he pulls the sword it’s like lightning fire shoots up his arm an he is engulfed by the righteous anger he feels with that sword and the power he felt, he also felt as if he knew the way without knowing what to. As this happened a zedd announces him the new seeker, an then Kahlan drops to her knees an bows her head down saying she pledges her life to protecting him(the seeker) in all his tastes, and so does zedd which ended up being the teacher wizard that left all those years before an left the apprentice wizards who thought he was crazy an the box of orden was just a myth, so they sold the boxes for high value, an also they thought they were supposed to pick the seeker, when really the seeker picks himself. At first Richard does not want the responsibility, he shuns it at first an he decides it makes his anger spark in a way which he is uncomfortable, because his father taught him to keep it locked behind a door, until zedd explains to him how Dahl’s dark magic works, he tortures the victim an uses there insides to tell what he wants to know, once Richard realizes this is what they did to his father, the righteous rage feels him again an the thought of the anger provoking him with the sword wasn’t a worry anymore, he wanted the rage and wanted to kill Darken Rahl. Then is when he is officially announced seeker, because the sword takes part of you when you kill someone an it torments you with guilt of something about the person you killed that was good, expect the anger/rage is like a shield against the torment you would experience from the sword. Richard accepts his responsibility as seeker. Then the wizard explains to Richard that he can’t use the sword on Darken Rahl, the sword of truth can’t kill him because the three boxes of orden, when set into play, they give the person trying to use them, a whole year to find all the boxes because they will not open unless you have the right one, so they give the person who opened them a years worth of protection to not be hurt, so he can try and find all the boxes in a year, if he doesn’t find them all he dies on the first day of winter. If he pulls the wrong one it could kill him or it could kill all life, if he doesn’t get them all toghether in a year he dies anyway on the first day of winter. but if he grabs the right one he will have power over all life and death, any thought he thinks of a person an that will happen to them. So Rahl has 2 of the 3 boxes an to beat him, instead of killing him they have to find the box an keep it from him. They can’t go through the boundary because Rahl is waiting for them, so zedd the wizard tells Richard the seeker that he must find a way “over” the boundary not through it. Then Richard realizes his father must have done it because the wizard brought the sword after the boundary but didn’t help Richards dad retrieve the book of counted shadows that his dad had him memorize. So he in other words had to find a path across it just like in the forests, they didn’t go through the forest they went on a path, so Richard realizes how he can find a way across the boundary, just like using a trial in the forest, they just had to find it. So they head back to zedds house to eat, they eat an realize from the cat at the door with its hair raised, there are bright lights that look like torches and pitchforks approaching. They go outside an recognize all the people of the village, angry saying they must kill zedd because he is a witch, zedd ends up getting them to leave by tricking them making them think he made there manhood disappear, so they thank the wizard for allowing them to redeem themselves of there manhood an run of to there families to tell them the wizard zedd isn’t bad. But it ended up being a trick an zedd didn’t really do that. They go back inside an richard then realizes it was but a distraction from Darken Rahl to send those men brainwashed thinking zedd is bad as a distraction knowing zedd and the seeker and Kahlan could handle them. An the real move was Darken Rahl who used that as a set up to attack them after there guard is down thinking they won against the village. So they pack up just a small amount an put the cat in Richards backpack and leave. Zedd asks Richard if they are going the right way to go across the boundary, Richard explains he doesn’t know how but he can’t feel they are going the right way. They turn as they get higher into the hills of the mountains to see down at the village sea level where the trees cut off, they see flams rising above the trees an realize Darken Rahl is at zedds house, Darken Rahl bellows a sound where it shakes the trees and zedd then knew Darken Rahl realized they caught on to his plan. Then a creature above them flying silently in the night with glowing eyes swoops down toward them, an that’s an update of where I am in the book
