Almost done. This book has been an eye-opening experience for me and will leave me with a lot to think about long after I've finished.

How we can continue to condone, through nothing else other than pure human vanity, the needless murder of certain animals (such as wolves and bears) is beyond me. We are such an ugly species sometimes.

"Animals are not art, to be obsessively reshaped according to some dilettante's vision of what they should look like. They are living beings..."

The statistics on pet adoption and euthanasia of otherwise healthy animals are sobering, to say the least. To know how many innocent lives could be saved simply by going to a shelter and adopting an animal in need makes you wonder why anyone who claims to love animals would do otherwise.
