"Philon was miffed." Not nearly as "miffed" as this reader. With all of the lovely synomyms, ranging from "perturbed" to "vexed" and any number of things in between, the best choice the author had was "miffed"? Then there's "milliner," which is derived from a Middle English word and would not have been used in 241 BC Egypt. And wide-brimmed felt hats? Wracking my brain for a single instance in period Egyptian art.

More malapropisms and homophone errors, as well as anachronistic speech. Ugh! I am on the verge of abandoning this book.

And lest I forget: odd sentence constructions (e.g., " ... holding clumsily his sister under the armpit."). :-(

Inexcusable typos (horses do not live in "padlocks," and women do not "refuse to bulge" until someone comes to get them). Also, numerous anachronisms like "dad," "gotta go," "bye," and "kinky" (when referring to sex). Author seems unaware that royal incest was common place and far from taboo.
