Sociologists Marcel Mauss (1872-1950) saw magic as a social phenomenon similar to but distant from science and religion in many ways. According to Mauss, magic and religion bear strong resemblances to each other, mainly because of the importance of belief and ritual in both. 🤓

Science fiction author and futurist Arthur C. Clarke famously claimed that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

Time travel—even just the mere possibility of it—suggests that the future might already be written. So what role can we possibly play in the writing of it?

Opening up to others and letting our relations with them shape who we are can be frightening, but as Hal says, “Even rookies know a Green Lantern isn’t without fear. A Green Lantern overcomes fear. Every time they face it.”
