(Connection): Here is a really cool trailer I found for the cartoon version of this book! It only includes the first and second part of the trilogy which is perfect because these are the two sections I read! The trailer looks amazing! (Favorite): “Parvana reaches out her hand and raised the front of the burqa. Her mother’s face looked back at her.” This is one of my favorite quotes because it’s so relieving to know she has finally been reunited with her mom after all of this craziness.

(Ask): A man is begging people to buy his baby from him so he can feed the rest of his family. Is this what their situation has really come to?

(Visualization): On this page they have just been rained on by bombs. Bodies are everywhere and people are screaming and crying for their loved ones. I can imagine the pure horror and disaster being played out.

(Connection): “A pang of missing her family shot through her” reminds me of my sudden emotions when I remember and begin to miss my grandfather who just recently passed away.

(Connection): This quote sounds very similar to: it takes a village to raise a child. "...but if I'm going to take care of you, your village will have to help me."
