In Lord of the Rings I have just finished book two and I am excited to start with book three. So far I am impressed how different the books are to the films. In the films, certain conversations are cut out or cut in half. Also in the books the details pointed to a very dark time for everyone, and lots of villages in deep depression. Also the description of how the Orcs torture Merry and Pippin was very dark.
