So there’s one chapter which seems completely unconnected from everything else, in which Dream and a mortal who is granted immortality become friends over hundreds of years, and it’s pretty excellent. Nothing is awful, the two are friendly to each other, and if the whole book was like this we would have something pretty great.

But then it ends.

Well GK Chesterton made a surprise, and welcome, appearance. But I can’t think he’d appreciate being in this nasty story. We’ll see how things pan out, but I’m not optimistic.
