The secret of what happened to Sammy is finally revealed. I predicted this during the last book. Twas so obvious. But predictable is often good, and this was. Just because you know what's going to happen doesn't mean it's not going to be told well or be compelling in the telling. I remember leading up to the release of Deathly Hallows absolutely everyone predicted who RAB was, and that reveal wasn't diminished

I woke up Tuesday morning, but my right leg was numb. I stood up, and crumpled to the floor, scraping up my toes and giving my right knee the world's worst rug burn. I tried to stand again, but fell down. I tried a third time, but fell down a third time. Finally my leg woke up and I hobbled to the bathroom and bandaged myself. So, I spent a lot of today sitting down, which meant I did a lot of reading. #SilverLinings

A few thoughts:
(1) I've not read much the past few days. Been occupied with non-reading weekend things. Since the weather's turned warm and sunny there are, apparently, other spare time things to do.
(2) The more I think about it, the more all this boy-girl drama makes sense. These kids spend nearly all their time in close quarters alone on a flying ship. It's like a cross between a college dorm and a desert island.

A few thoughts:
(1) The teen angst drama here is really steering the plot. The whole story seems more about awkwardness and intrigue stemming from Star Trek style away-team pairings and threesomes, than missions themselves.
(2) This book's a bit of a sex farce, but in a very G-rated sort of way. Annabeth's more or less given The Scarlet Letter treatment for little more than a cuddle and snooze with Percy. Scandalous!

A few thoughts:
(1) I CAN'T POST REVIEWS! I've been trying for hours! Goodreads, C'Mon! With my luck my rating clicks will all appear at the same time, and my feed will be one repeated review!
(2) This book's super-weird, it's like a cross between Star Trek, the Bachelorette and The Love Boat. It's been all about the relationship drama!
(3) Dionysius drinks Diet Coke, while Bacchus drinks Diet Pepsi. Shocking!

So far this book's been very heavy on teenage relationship drama. Everyone's suspicious and conscious of potential adversaries for affection, coupling, and such. I'm actually impressed how well the first two books built up to this. Annabeth's thoughts on Percy are particularly interesting. We never did get her point of view in Percy Jackson & The Olympians. She's really quite mushy beneath her steely exterior.

Pre-read thoughts:
(1) This takes place in Europe. Good! Canada felt super-blah. I got a preview of "Rick Riordan travel writer" in The Son of Neptune. I expect him to go full Dan Brown with the history, art and architecture.
(2) The four Greeks do the POVs. That's too many.
(3) The first two books took place concurrently, and built to this one. I expect awkward reunions: much ground has been laid for love triangles.
