Custance repeats himself a lot in the service of utter thoroughness, which can make the reading slow going. His attention to detail is appreciated, though, considering the vital importance of his studies. I’m two chapters from the end, and every chapter has been fascinating and illuminating.

“So was offered in a compound ceremony a sacrifice for SIN and a sacrifice for SINS, a victim executed as a SIN-offering and a victim banished utterly as a beater of the SINS of God’s people.” (395)

“...the Jewish people had slain their King out of hate long before they crucified Him out of ignorance.” (370)

“But many of [Jesus’] miracles...were the work of a Person who was acting as a perfect man, and would have been possible for Adam (and his descendants) to have done equally, if sin had not entered.” (345)
