Ozymandias reminds me of Bellewether (a character from the Zeroes novel) and of Peace Monger (a character from my own NeoHuman Series), in that the character is a natural conqueror (by their own standard) but must rescue mankind before putting them under their rule.

I am so lost. How does the Black Freighter and Crimson Corsair fit into the Watchmen Universe? I think the story would have been better for novel literature. The flow of the story was too wordy and the tale just seemed unimportant.

Veidt (Ozymandias) trained his mind and body to superhuman feats, acquired wealth unimaginable, and used the cover of night to frighten criminals. That is where his similarities to Batman end.
This guy is doing all he does to subtly conquer the world, seeing as Alexander of Macedonia is his role model. In his quest to do what Alexander failed to do, he realizes he must first save mankind before conquering them.
