So far, I am really liking this book! I loved reading about America's trip to the palace and the makeover she got. When America drops Aspen, it sort of made me happier than it should have. It's just that now I feel like she is free and doesn't have to worry about what she does at the palace.

Maxon takes pictures with the girls and is later shown the hardships of being a 5, 6, 7, and 8 in the caste system. America tells him how she is sometimes starving, so he decides to put a new feeding organization for them in those designated areas. Celeste also tears Americas dress and is a brat as usual. I really think the Maxon and America might start falling in love with each other soon, since he sent away Janelle

Rebels have attacked the palace and all of the girls were a bit shaken up. America, however, is very smart and realizes that this is the time to show bravery if you wanted to be the next queen, even though she doesn't. The prince and her are such good friends, but I really hope that they turn out to be more than that.

America tells the prince that she would most likely never fall in love with him, so she tells him that she will tell him everything about the girls as a friend, so that she can stay a little longer to receive money. I assume she will fall in love with him however due to the fact that there are many books after this one. So far, I really like this book and think that it is very amusing to see how America acts.

In the section I read today, America goes to her room and gets a tour of the palace.. At one point, she breaks down and the prince helps her through it. This was her first time meeting the prince, so I feel like they have a special connection which is sort of exciting. I don't know how the prince feels, however, with America telling him that she has been in love before.

America and Aspen end up breaking up, which sort of reminded me of the Hunger Games story line, but it was also pretty depressing, since I thought they would end up together. Now that America is actually chosen into the Selection, I feel like them breaking up helps her focus on the actual competition.

I am excited that America finally decided to sign up. I feel like this is where the story actually begins in terms of The Selection. Aspen is so sweet and it would really suck if they never got married because I am assuming she will maybe win the contest and have to marry the Prince. Either way, I actually like this book so far, and am excited to read the rest!

America is a sixteen-year-old who is pushed by her family to join a contest called "The Selection." I assume that this is in the future because she talks about how the holidays used to be in the winter but that holidays like Halloween aren't celebrated anymore. So far, I like this book and am intrigued with her relationship to Aspen.
