I think the fact that "great writers never waste knowledge" is starting to sink in for me. It's becoming more and more clear to me that every little detail that Steinbeck puts in is important because it's either foreshadowing or symbolizing something. I think I'm interested in reading more books like this one because having to actually put your mind to work while reading is actually a really fun process.

I love how this book is written so thoughtfully like every sentence has a hidden or deeper meaning. It makes me have to do a lot of thinking, and I like that. A really good book so far!
