•Cahr Awen: one of two witches born from the origin wells, able to cleanse even the darkest evils. 500 years without one.

•I love Susan Dennard’s intricate world, I feel like there’s too many characters and new vocabulary. I need a glossary and map to grasp the full breadth of the story.

•Are voicewitches like cell phones? Walkie talkies? Witchy talkies? (gotta love a good dad joke)

•Safi’s witchery makes her a target to all: either a political tool to be enslaved and used, or a political threat to be eliminated.

•Safi and Iseult are heretics: unregistered witches.

•I love the nautical, seaside scenery of the story. Just a nice change from typical urban storytelling.

•Wordwitches: speak all tongues, and typically deal in business with secrets.

•Safiya and Iseult setting fire pit traps for 32 guards with crossbows? Badass witches.
•Safi is a Truthwitch: she’s able to decipher between truth and lie; between reality and deception.
•Safi always shit on by seagulls? 🐦💩😂
•Masters of disguise. From peasants to students? That’s quite a jump.
•Bloodwitch: can smell witchery within a witch’s blood and can track it across continents.

So far, I’m very intrigued. It’s an intricate world with so many names being thrown around. Instead of slowly building the world around the characters, it seems we’ve been dropped in the middle and are meant to catch up - which is similar to the frantic energy Safi and Iseult are feeling. So that’s very interesting, actually.
