I am nearly 100 pages in and am very close to abandoning it for the principal reason that it's politically retrograde in its treatment of gender. Maybe the cliché presentation of women and men will reveal itself to have been a knowing device intended to set us up for a shocking twist, but at present I think it's revelling in its fawning descriptions of women's bodies and maquillage.
