Hon is a Japanese classifier for long, thin objects, with rigid members more central. This extends beyond swords to include martial arts contests using swords. A hit in baseball can use hon because the bat is central to the concept. A roll of tape can be unrolled. A koan contest between a Zen master and his student is about comparing penis sizes. An injection uses a needle. I might have made one of those up.

Not sure if that chapter should be called "Stating the Obvious" or "Why People Suck."
