As we watch our friends tackle multiple books a day, I want to make a shoutout for my fellow slow readers (and fellow readers with ADHD). We may take a week to read a book, but we still love books just as much as those who read hundreds a year. ❤️❤️❤️

Scarlet It's important to remember!!!! I go through phases of reading speeds and my tiredness from a crazy work schedule affects it most.

Eugenio Hear hear!! 👍

message 4: by Bitchin' (new)

Bitchin' Reads AMEN. There are times where I speed read, times where I just can't go more than a few pages over a longer period of time, and some times where I can't pick up a book. Everyone has their own pace. <3

message 5: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra @Scarlet- Same here! Sometimes my schoolwork becomes too much and I just don't have the time or the energy either.

@Lauren Elise- Exactly! :)

@Eugenio- *raises a glass*

@Bitchin'- One hundred percent agree! Pace does not define your love of books.

@#ChooseKind- You are very welcome! :)

message 6: by Alan (new)

Alan Cotterell It's the quality of reading that matters, not the quantity.

Bayan Turshan This post deserves a lot of love ❤️

Swaye *slow clap*

Rachael (RedRchlReads) Yes!! I felt really bad that I didn't meet my (self-imposed) reading goal last year, even after lowering it. Until I reminded myself that I still read a ton of awesome books, along with all the other stuff going on in life over the course of the year. Even if there are times when we are not able to read anything, it doesn't mean we are any less of a reader/book lover/bookworm.

Alex (ReadingBetweenTheNotes) Any number of books is worth celebrating! 😊

message 11: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra @Alan- Exactly!

@Bayan- Thank you!

@Swaye- :)

@Rachael (RedRchlReads)- Exactly; no one should ever feel like they're any less of a reader based on the number.

@Alex (PaperbackPiano)- Agreed!! :)

Starjustin Yes! I agree! I am one of those slow readers. :-)

message 17: by Sabrien (new)

Sabrien Abdelrahman @Bitchin'
I'm the same way. I'm a mood reader, but I guess for this site I may be average (?). I'm around 100 a year. Some people read way more, some way less; but I think the only thing that matters isn't forcing yourself, but moreso reading at your pace of enjoyment. Have fun! Don't turn reading, one of the beautiful things we've been blessed with to relieve ourselves from stress, into another stressful activity! Remember why you love it! And happy reading everyone!

message 18: by Chris (new)

Chris I'm so there with you. Why read one book when you can read 5 at the same time?

message 19: by Anca (new)

Anca It really doesn't matter if you read 1 or 1000 books, as long as you read the books you love and enjoy them!

message 20: by Belinda (new)

Belinda ❤️💖💕❤️ I have dyslexia and ADD, I have love to read from 4 years of age. Sometimes I read a lot sometimes less. I almost always read atnight. I do not like the tv that much anymore. I read multiple books at the time. I need the change of scenery and characters. So Just love books! 😀

ℓуηη_σƒ_νєℓαяιѕ Amen, sister!! Where is the friggin' "LOVE" button for this post??? I always feel kinda down when I see people who've read over 100 books in the year and my goal feels so insignificant in comparison. This post is just what I needed to start the year off with the right attitude. Thank you so much for sharing this! <3 <3

message 22: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra @Starjustin- Same here!

@Patti- Thank you!

@Sabrien- Well said. :)

@Chris- Agreed. Rereading is amazing.

@Anca- Yes! Quality over quantity.

@Belinda- I didn't learn to read well until I was nine due to my ADHD and some learning issues. Needless to say, I love it now. :)

@ℓуηη, ℓσкιѕℓутнєя¢ℓαω- You are very welcome! I was also feeling down, and then I decided I should send out some love to my fellow slow readers. I'm glad it resonated with you! :)

message 23: by Louis (new)

Louis Multiple books a day? Do you guys have a computer chip in which you upload books or something? :D
I'm a slow reader as well, probably bc English is my 2nd language. But I savor what I read and I think that's more important than just reading a lot.
Rereading is a real joy. In my view, you read to separate the wheat from the chaff. You reread to fully absorb and apply the magic of words that is books. I should reread A LOT more. But I think, as you grow older, that it is something that comes automatically.
The best tip I can give you is to just ditch books that don't appeal to you for whatever reason. It's not worth your time and effort if it doesn't resonate with you or offer you some new perspective. If you second doubt yourself, you can always come back to it later on. Books are relatively cheap and price-quality wise an excellent investment.
Have fun (re)reading ;)
