I'm not sure what to make of this book. On one hand it's wall-to-wall action with very little plot: like a side-scrolling video game where you fight in one direction only to move to the next level and do the same thing again. On the other hand, it does a excellent job at developing character and conveying personality, much better than, say, Nightwing did, with all its moments of reflection and inner monologue.

I'm not so keen on this new slim and sexy Amanda Waller. Apart from issues relating to body diversification and the like, her big thing, pardon the pun, was that she's a behind-the-scenes, sedentary bureaucrat, and otherwise physically reflects that lifestyle. Perhaps, as with everything New 52, this is just a younger iteration of her, like they did with Lex Luthor, and she'll gain her signature corpulence over time.

I've never read Suicide Squad before, or cared to frankly. This iteration being most famous for elevating Harley Quinn from mere henchwoman to "the fourth pillar of DC Comics" – the unstable pillar. Beyond that I have no preconceptions going in, aside from the very notable fact that they "liberated" Harley from her burqini-like attire to whatever it is here. Personally I think they swung too far the other way.
