The New 52 reboot would be a lot easier to pretend is a thing if it weren't for books like this: the whole first issue is about how Dick Grayson spent a year as Batman and needs to get back to his roots as Nightwing again. So, if superheroes have only been around for five years, then Batman's only been doing it for four. Of course, it all makes sense if Batman's exempt from the reboot; I guess... because he's Batman.

I can't tell whether it's inability or cleverness, that Dick's new girlfriend looks exactly like Batgirl. Many artists have trouble making faces look distinct, and so identify characters by hairstyle; here one wears a ponytail. I assume it's intentional since even characters in the story mention it. But what a way to subtly and indirectly imply un-ended romantic feeling: by having him be with a carbon-copy of his ex.

Red Nightwing is a mistake on the level of New Coke: only valuable insofar as its use in promoting a return of the classic version. As much as I can see the desire to brand all former Robins as a kind of team (along with Red Hood and Red Robin) wearing a team color, you can't do that with superheroes, it's like making Superman wear brown. And frankly, it brings back bad memories of Schumacher's Batman & Robin.
